The playing field, or diamond, features a 90-foot square infield with bases at each corner. Home plate, where batters stand, is at one corner, followed by first, second, and third bases in counter-clockwise order. Beyond the infield lies the outfield, which extends to a wall or fence that marks the boundary between fair and foul territory.

Major League Baseball (MLB) represents the highest level of professional baseball in North America, consisting of 30 teams divided between the American and National Leagues.
